Sanlitun 2008 Olympic Fever Fuel Foreign Frenzy Nightlife

After a night of hangin' out around town, my friend and I did a bar-hop from the Yugong Yishan club to the China Doll in the infamous Sanlitun area of east Beijing, where nightlife have been bustling since the mid-1990's, and now is merely a popular hangout/tourist trap area for expatriates and locals looking for a rather straight-ahead and largely superficial good time, without having think too much about life, society, human progress, and all the other things that make life challenging and colorful, sometimes dreadfully so. WELL, sometimes one can have too bad of a good time: this Mexican national (or maybe a Mexican American) and his girlfriend got wasted on some alcohol and then some, and create quite a ruckus in the early morning hours (the waning hours) of Beijing nightlife, and it's apparently not just the mere influence of intoxicants or stimulants, but also an acquired psychology that I'd assume usually remains buried within their psyche, but is blown out here as demonstrated in this video, and which seem to contain a lot of negatives, but through the negatives I see much positives in cultivating oneself in future situations. This video was taken after Mr. Bimbo (referring to the jersey he's wearing) knocked down a bunch of potted plants at an adjacent bar across the back street from China Doll, and Mrs. Bimbo was directing "Chinese people to stay on that side", and "we (westerners) stay on this side". But instead of staying and being accountable and responsible for the alledged actions of vandalism, they started to walk off. At first, the people taking care of the vandalized bar let them go! BUT! Mr. Bimbo and Mrs. Bimbo decided to curse the Chinese people out as they were walking away south, towards the main avenue. Not surprisingly, they were once again surrounded and contained by the people in charge of the area, and prevented from leaving the scene. Mr. Bimbo calls "his friend at the embassy", and explains that "the Chinese people are beating us up", which simply wasn't true. I dunno how much truth is behind other statements he's made throughout the spectacle-ordeal, such as "I'm a kindergarten teacher, I'm not an American, I'm a Beijiner, you're a Jap!". Mr. Bimbo did however, suddenly fall to the ground on at least three occasions, banging his head hard against the concrete, brick, and, as you'll see in this video, asphalt (with a puddle of water to boot), and squirm around and scream like madness, throughly soiling his clothing, and ostensibly giving the appearance of "getting beaten up by Chinese people". Well, the police FINALLY came, and took the two hate-birds in, and this video was presented as a testimony to what has occurred. All along, my friend Emma tried to quell and make reason and peace of the situation. But Mr. and Mrs. Bimbo's ears were deaf to the whole situation; all they could do was scream and hurl insults and racial epithets. This is not how we wanna raise China-America / Sino-Latino cooperation. But I do think this will lead to more thorough understanding of each other as common folks and how we all reflect off of each other. O.K. At the end of all this, the police took them (and their bicycles) in, to a local precinct around the block (and it took them that long to show up?), and as we passed by a Mexican restaurant on our way there, Mr. Bimbo shouted over to some people sitting in front of the restaurant, about how he was beaten-up by Chinese people, but he words were met with discouraging words and repulsive jeering, some in the Spanish language from some people of apparently Latino background. Finally, the cops let him and his gf off easy! His workplace supervisor (not from the embassy) came and compensated for the damages done. He he and his gf were released. In America, you'll damn for sure be going to jail for that! Chinese justice can be VERY EFFICIENT AND PRACTICAL. Anywaze, on our way out of Sanlitun on my CJ750 "Beijing 2008 Olympic-Friendlies' Edition" sidecar, Emma and I saw two thirty-ish white dudes looking very pissed-off'ed at each other and exchanging punches at the front of another bar. No video of that, otherwise we''l have to go back to the precinct and again present evidence of foreigners suffering from some overt case of Olympic fever! This video shot on 13 August 2008 with my "shanzhai Anycall" cellphone, hence the low resolution quality. BTW Bimbo is the best brand of western style bread readily available at local supermarkets(i.e. Hualian); they've whole corn, wheat, flaxseed, etc, loaves to help you make that good western-styled sandwich which you'd crave every now and then, but the local Chinese "dabing" make great "bread" for those morning sausage and egg sanwich-croissant too.
